Terry and Mike Hubbs

When Terry moved to San Martin he brought with him over 20 years of experience in multiple phases of the graphic arts business. His unique talent as a Creative Advertising, Lettering and Pictorial Artist offers his customers a wide range of options in choosing a logo and finished project. He offers custom logo designs with the diversity to choose exactly the right medium to produce exactly the right results.

In 1973 Terry and his wife Juliet opened Chaparral Signs in a 30x30 shop in their backyard.

"I remember drawing patterns for local fruit stands, on our living room floor with the kids watching and the cat chasing my pencil," Terry recalls. "Those fruit stand signs were our bread and butter for a lot of years." However, those memories from 32 years ago are a far cry from the state-of-the-art "dream" shop that rose from the ashes of a fire that completely wiped them out in 2003, and propelled them, or compelled them to reunite father and son as the "dream team" that are the brains and talent within CHAPARRAL SIGNS and AUTO GRAPHICS today.

CHAPARRAL SIGNS & AUTO GRAPHICS

Michael grew up with a sketch pad and a paintbrush in his hand. He officially went to work helping his Dad by sweeping floors and learning his trade by doing fill in work on Orchard Supply Hardware trailers. The next 15 years were spent painting signs, doing tattoos and perfecting his skills, under the patient and steady guidance of whom Mike says is his best friend, his Dad.

While this duo was lettering trucks and trailers for California Motorcycle Co., the owner of CMC recognized Mike's talent and asked to hire him away from Chaparral Signs. Realizing this offer as an opportunity to learn more, Mike went to work for CMC as a pin- striper and airbrusher. By the time CMC became the new Indian Motorcycle Co. Mike was doing their one-of-a-kind, prototypes and prize winning custom paint jobs. He did bikes for 49er Jeff Garcia, Arnold Schwarzenegger, NASCAR drivers of the year Bobby and Terry LaBonte, Dale Jarret and Jeff Gordon. He painted eight police bikes for the movie T-3 Rise of the Machines, and the 1999 1st place winning Indian Chief owned by Branscombe Richmond.

As an independent contractor he painted the 911 limited edition Spirit of America bikes for Indian. He did the graphics and pinstriping on the bike that won Best Paint in Show at the Hollister Independent day rally, 2004.

Look for their shop to be featured on the Discovery Channel Biker Build Off in January 2005, where Mike airbrushed and striped logos for builder Cole Foster.

This father and son "dream team" combines 75 years of experience providing signs for success. Let them help make your dream a reality with an innovative on-of-a-kind design.
